Van Dam Nordia 55 Cruiser (2005) - Sold

The legendary Royal Van Dam Nordia shipyard built this very successful series of 55 footers. This beautiful, fast and very stable aluminium blue water cruising yacht is of the highest quality. She performs excellently under sail and is easy to handle due to her fully hydraulic furling systems and winches.

She has fantastic wide teak decks and looks very sleek without her canopy. There is a big, bright centre cockpit with great vision. She has very high stanchions, custom davits for her rib and a wide bathing platform allowing easy entry at any time. There is a large forepeak with ample storage and crash bulkhead.

Inside, she is fully air-conditioned and centrally heated. The interior joinery is in warm, American cherry, beautifully handcrafted as the Dutch can, with a high level of finishing details. Light floods in through the big port lights in the main saloon. There is a nice, traditional nav station and the galley is just abundant. The work surface is in marble, the cooker is electric and custom built by Nordia, with a ceramic top, full size fan assisted oven and microwave. There is a huge deep freeze and proper sized fridge. There’s lots of storage, a double sink and a full-size washer/dryer.

The passage through the large galley leads into the owner’s stateroom: an enormous double cabin with two seating areas, several wardrobes and mirrored cupboards. It’s a lovely place to spend time. Adjacent is a large ensuite bathroom with a separate shower stall, beautifully done and very spacious.

Back through the galley we find Nordia’s signature engine room, which looks more like an operating theatre. All systems are of the best quality and easily accessible. She has got a Perkins M135 main engine, an Onan generator, a water maker and extensive power pack.

A huge amount of work has been done on sound deadening, which makes these boats amazingly quiet.

Going forward through the main saloon, there’s a little lobby, with beautifully curved doors, that leads into the two guest cabins offering four births. These cabins share a large head with again a separate shower stall.

The Nordia 55 is a very secure boat in every way, sailing in ultimate comfort and safety due to her solid construction. Elegance, top comfort and proven Atlantic seaworthiness, offering unique live-a-board comfort and excellent sailing.
