This unique, compact motor vessel is designed for long sea voyages. Because of the good accommodation it is suitable for permanent living aboard and because of the aluminium hull low maintenance. It has everything on board for an unlimited stay on board, from air conditioning, washing machine to heating and a passive stabilisation system, a flume tank. 

CYGNUS was specially designed and built for her original and very experienced owners. With over a 100,000 offshore nautical miles on board their previous yachts, they had the experience to make CYGNUS a safe, economical and easy to maintain trawler yacht for a couple and occasional guests for all seasons and any ocean, as well as inland cruising. The mast can be easily lowered and has a minimum vertical clearance of only 3m, which allows for navigation through the European channel system, as well as the 'Great Loop'.

 

Built entirely of aluminium in accordance with the American Bureau of Shipping Rules, CYGNUS is well suited to voyages at high latitudes as amply proven during a cruise to Greenland. She has wide gangways protected by 90 cm high fixed sea rail, three watertight compartments, a simple but effective passive anti-roll flume tank for added stability underway and for stabilisation on anchor and the ability to recover from a 360 degree roll. The raised full-width foredeck provides the greatest possible interior space in the front, a large foredeck area, a large freeboard and plenty of reserve buoyancy. 

 

CYGNUS's general layout has been carefully designed for extended travel and living on board with both natural and forced air ventilation. Two air conditioning systems supply the saloon, galley, cabins, and wheelhouse. Heat is provided by an Espar 28,000 BTU diesel heater, a reverse cycle air-conditioner or a Heater Craft coach heater that uses waste heat from the engine. The interior is finished in light oak with lacquered cherry wood edges. There are strong handles, as befits a ship going to sea. The headroom in the entire cabin is no less than 2 metres (6'-6"). The large main cabin is forward with a French bed in the middle, behind it a guest cabin/office to starboard and a large toilet room to port with a spacious shower. The corridor leads to the wheelhouse with excellent visibility and access to the gangways via watertight doors. Access to the engine room is via hatches in the floor. Two steps aft is the galley to starboard, complete with washing machine and plenty of storage space. There is a large light oak dining table and a passage to the galley. A watertight double door leads to the working deck aft.
