Ramrod

Winner Admirals cup 1959

Arthur Robb 45' (1959) - € 67.000,- +++ Oostende (B)

Ramrod was build in 1959 by Port Hamble marine in Hamble-le-Rice (United Kingdom) for Selwyn Slater and R. McLoughlin. The yacht has been designed by the late Arthur C. Robb (1908-1969), who designed in 1954 the cutter Uomie for Selwyn. The Uomie was a good ship, and and was part of the three of the most famous ocean races of that period: the Fastnet race, the Bermuda race and the Sydney Hobart. The  Ramrod racer has as a further development of the Uomie also excellent sailing capabilities. In 1959 this yacht won the second edition of the Admirals Cup, together with two other English boats, the Myth of Malham and the Griffin II.

The Ramrod is build of Makoré (an African hardwood) on oak stringers. The ship has a traditional S-bilge with lead keel ballast with rudder attached.

This unique classic racer is now for sale. The hull and deck have been completely restored and are in excellent condition. There is a separate steering cockpit at the back and another for the crew. Under deck there is room for 8 in the sitting area, there is a galley, a Chart table and a head compartment.
